Nature Notes

For the last two nights, we have had skeins of geese flying over us to get to Martin Mere. The first night there were close to a thousand in several ragged skeins and last night there were about 100 more. They make a seemingly uncoordinated row and shift about using what I know is called the Chorus Girl Effect where the wave of movement indicates what each bird should do.

I rang my father to let him know about this and he was able to tell me that they were Pink-Footed Geese and when they entered the country.
